Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let Down Your Hair.

Annabelle and I went to the theater with Mrs. Marcela and Emelina.  Annabelle decked out in her Rapunzel duds, she was so excited and the show did not disappoint.  The girls, jaws dropped to the floor and eyes wide open for the entire performance.  Let's face it, the mommies loved it just as much.

This was not the "story book" adaptation, or even the Disney "Tangled" adaptation.   This show was a musical with all original scores.  There were four characters; Rapunzel, the prince (Brian), the mother who was the witch and then there was Simon, the prince's helper who wore many "hats" throughout the hour-long performance.

The set was amazing, with a huge tower that rotated.  Rapunzel herself was a beautiful African American woman, with jet black hair.  Neither girl asked about other characters from the book or movie and neither girl mentioned race.  Its amazing how, as adults, we notice these things, but the girls took it for what it was and not having golden hair didn't seem to raise any red flags.

The tower at the entrance of the theater.
The Rapunzel Barbie accompanied us to the show.
The embroidered Rapunzel dress and hair bow were a huge hit.
