Picaso?

Why not start out the new year with a post about New Year's Day at the Jefcoat home. First, let me take you back two weeks, it was a Saturday morning, I was getting my hair done and Kyle was with Belle at home. Apparently, after going up and down the stairs over and over again chasing after Belle, Kyle was determined to get her to play in the playroom and locked the gate at the top of the stairs. Belle went up to the gate, frustrated she could not get through and began shaking the gate. After a few minutes of shaking and screaming on the landing, Belle gets quiet and my loving husband thinks to himself "Ahh... peace." Kyle watches about 10 minutes of ESPN before he realizes... uh ooo... quiet and a 20-month-old cannot be a good sign. As he turns to go to the landing to see what Belle was doing, she was already on her way downstairs to show her daddy her masterpiece. Her hands, arms and jammies covered in red permanent marker - oh **** went through his mind before he realized her coloring masterpiece continued on the rug, hardwood floors, and white closet doors. We don't have photos of this because daddy was so scared of what mommy might do - to daddy, not the baby - that he cleaned it all up with little to be noticed before I got home.

Now fast forward to New Years Day morning. I was napping a/k/a nursing a hangover and my wonderful husband took Belle downstairs to play and give me some quiet time. Apparently, daddy dosed off for a bit and woke to Belle showing her daddy her hands - in black permanent marker. She continued to walk her daddy around the room and show him every place she colored... she was so proud. She got the doors, carpet, hardwood floors, walls, trim, playhouse... this was impressive. I have a few photos, but they really don't do her work justice.

Ahhh... we've learned a few lessons, first, all markers need to be locked up and put up high -- our daughter has a way of climbing and reaching to get anything she wants and she's tall. Happy New Year to everyone.

Oh, she is "talented" - our little artist, we're dubbed her antics "marker gate".

Try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It should take most of it off. I have been there before. They are very creative...just in the wrong place.
