Hello Mr. President

We ventured downtown to see the cherry blossoms with our good friends Nicole and Taffe. We took the metro with about 100,000 other tourists (or at least that's what it felt like) and got out near a Starbucks (yes, that was the plan) -- got out caffeine filled drinks and we were ready to walk (4 mils for the day). We leisurely walked around the National Mall, to the Washington Monument, and down to the Tidal Basin where the glorious cherry trees were in full bloom. It was a sight to see, truly breathtaking, and if you could pretend like there weren't 1,000 other people next to you, you could actually take a moment and smell the flowers.

We enjoyed a picnic on the grounds of the Jefferson Memorial, overlooking the tidal basin and covered above by a canopy of cherry trees.

The children loved to run around in the green grass -- thank you sun for drying up the grass so it wasn't muddy.

We stopped from playing to capture a quick photo op with the mommy. Belle was way more interested in the water, and no rail.... so we were busy keeping up with the children who wanted to jump in. It was like a big kiddie pool to them:)

On our way back to the metro we were stopped by a motorcade... who could it be? Oh my, Mr. President, what a surprise. Everyone clapped and waved as he drove by. It was thrilling to be so close and see all the pomp and circumstance. In hind sight, I should have turned Belle around, but I thought I would get a photo of her with the motorcade in the background.

We got back home about 1:30-2:00; put both kids down for a nap. We had so much fun and it was such a nice day that Nicole and Taffe came over after nap for happy hour on the deck. What a great way to relax and kick back a bottle of wine with a good friend.
