The family traveled to Kansas City for a Southern Miss football game, which was actually in Lawrence, Kansas -- about 1 hour from K.C.. It was the best of both worlds, Kyle's brothers Clark and Ken flew with us to meet up with Kyle's parents Robert and Pat and my parents Len and Mary Kay drove down from Mankato, MN. We met my Aunt and Uncle Linda and Willie and their family -- all whom live in Kansas City. The flights went fine. My anticipation is much worse than Belle's behavior -- we're all sure of that. I am a horrible traveler when I have to do it with Belle -- all the worrying for nothing; she was fine on the plane. One thing I do know for sure, she is ready for her own seat... she loves to be the "big girl" on the airplane.
Saturday was game day and it was a beautiful day... 70's, a slight breeze perfect for football. We arrived at the stadium in plenty of time to walk through the tailgates and make it to the kids corner where there were fun things for Belle to look at. Then, we enjoyed a small parade by the Kansas University band as they made their way to the stadium... Belle danced when she heard the drums coming down the big hill. Of course, it wouldn't be game day without a family photo... so here are a few.
The Golden Eagles lost the game, but put up a good fight, USM 28 v. KU 35.

Then it was lunch time. We indulged in a stadium hot dog and funnel cake-- yum, yum... Belle loved the funnel cake, she kept dipping the dough in extra powdered sugar.
Here is daddy and Belle sitting on the bleachers watching the game. Belle was playing with some beads from Grammie - which were a huge hit:)
Saturday evening we were lucky enough to see my friend Amanda and her husband Mark. I met Amanda when I studied abroad in Ireland and we became fast friends. It was great to catch up and felt like we hadn't missed a beat.
Sunday my entire family and the Jefcoat family all met up at Linda and Willie's house for brunch. Their kids Paul and Greg and their families joined us. Greg and Tricia have Grace and Gavin and Paul and Lori have little Claire. They are all much older than Belle and wonderful babysitters. Grace (the oldest) followed Belle around and watched her every move -- she is a wonderful babysitter -- even if she is only 6 or so. Belle loved playing with the older kids and they were all so good with her. Gavin even let Belle ride on the back of his three wheeler while he petaled it around the garage -- not going too fast:) (Photos of the festivities to follow when I get them from my cousin.)
