While its been raining, we've been enjoying some indoor activities.... today, we saw Lion King in the movie theater. Annabelle loves going to movies.
While Annabelle loves a good Disney movie ... Beauty and the Beast and Toy Story 3 are favorites. Tinker Bell also ranks pretty high.
She loves Princess and the Frog for the Zydeco music and insists on getting up and dancing every time the music plays. She'll even ask her daddy to play Zydeco music and dance with her.
The new movie Tangled, based on the book Rapunzel (which we've been reading for a long time since it was my childhood favorite), is beautiful and she loves watching it. She loves the story and insists she has long "yellow" hair like Rapunzel. She brushes her hair all the time and is convinced the more she brushes the longer it will grow.
Even with all the magic of the Disney/Pixar movies, Annabelle still loves the old classics. She really enjoys Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.
But now, she loves Annie (the Disney version, which is less "scary"), Wizard of Oz (the Original), and Madeline.
At the beginning of the movie, Madeline, the main character, a British little girl, says "gotcha" when looking for her hat. The other day, Annabelle comes up to me and says "gOcha" (pronounced with a long 'O') and I said what? I had no idea what she was saying. Finally she said, mommy, its English. I replied, as opposed to Spanish... she said, no, it's English. I couldn't figure out what she was saying for the life of me. Then, it occurred to me, it was 'Proper English'... and she was using an English accent and saying "gotcha". Kids absorb so much at this age. We're now reading all of the Madeline books.
She loves Annie so much that we downloaded the soundtrack, she sings all of the songs. In fact, she's been teaching some of her friends the songs at school and then they are putting on a little show. Hmmm... not sure where she gets her singing confidence, certainly not from me.
You would think by this post that I have a little girl that watches a lot of TV. Well, let's face it, more since Quentin has been born and she doesn't nap anymore -- but really she doesn't watch that much. Although, she has been known to call her princess figurines the "orphans". :)
