Mommy and Daddy got a fancy night out, and we all know how much I like to be fancy. My wonderful husband in a tuxedo - yes he finally owns a tuxedo - and me in a party dress.... what could be more fun! Uncle Clark came over to put Belle to sleep and then stayed over night (with the baby monitor by his ear) and got up with Belle in the morning...ahh.... bliss....what a wonderful uncle.
We managed to pull ourselves together and meet up with Frank and Elizabeth Miller (parents to the twin boys who also just turned one) and venture into DC for a drink. We went to a very fun bar that has lots of "fu-fu" drinks for a pre-party cocktail. Then, to the main event, the Taste of The South at the DC Armory. The event is a charity event and this year the charity was a special needs school in Mississippi. Most of the patrons were hill staffers and such, but we managed to fit in as best we could. The food was good, the band was good - although not quite enough songs for Kyle to dance to - but it was HOT. No air conditioning in the building and they just couldn't get the place cooled down with fans. After hours of standing in heels (which I haven't done in years), Kyle and I bolted to a place we knew we could sit down and relax..back to our old stomping grounds we go....to none-other than Yanni's in Cleveland Park where we met up with Ken and his friend Amy. We had a couple more drinks to finish off the night and then we caught a cab home where the house was quiet and Belle fast asleep.
Most of all, we had a great time with our good friends Frank and Elizabeth. Here are some photos from our big night out.
