What a great day. Belle and I ventured into DC for "Tourist Tuesday" with our friends Shiloh and Luke. We had a plan to go to the National Archives to see a new exhibit, but when we arrived, there was a line around the block. Since we live in DC, we thought we would try that another time and change our plans - which turned out to be a fantastic idea. We walked over to the Washington Monument and down to the Tidal Basin to see the cherry blossoms (in peak season - which is only about 1 week a year) and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. We enjoyed a picnic under the cherry blossom trees right next to the TJ Memorial and listened to live music performed by a small band. Belle and Luke were great, they enjoyed playing with each other and watching the people walk by.

We walked up to see TJ himself, he is so much larger when you get up close. We didn't even make it down the elevator and both of the babies were sleeping.... Shiloh and I thought we should take advantage of a sleeping baby, so we walked to Georgetown, via Constitution Ave - where we almost got toppled by a taxi and a funeral procession. We landed at Tony and Joe's - a restaurant on the Potomac river where uncle Ken works. We visited Ken and had a margarita to quench our thirst. In case you are not familiar with DC, by now we have walked at least 7 miles.
Then we walked through Georgetown to the Rosslyn, Virginia metro stop where we got on the train to come home. We were exhausted when we got home, but it was such a fun day. Nothing was planned and it was just perfect.
